Vedanta 2.0: The Great Treatise on Existence — The Illusion of Distance, Darkness Beneath the Lamp, and the Cosmic Journey

Author: Agyat Agyani (Manish Kumar) Field: Philosophy, Consciousness Studies, and Contemporary Vedanta Type: Conceptual Research Paper

Abstract

In the present age, certain practical manifestations of science, religion, and the education system have distanced humanity from its fundamental existential awareness. This paper presents "Vedanta 2.0" as an independent conceptual framework. It is neither an interpretation of any specific sect nor a mere repetition of traditional philosophical texts. It focuses on the dynamic nature of Pure Existence and its direct experience.

Using key metaphors and philosophical models — “Darkness Beneath the Lamp” (the distance between periphery and center), the symbolic Cosmic Journey, and the Trikaal Sutra (Birth-Breath-Heartbeat) — the paper demonstrates how modern humans have forgotten their inner center and become lost in the external periphery. Instead of labeling natural impulses like desire, anger, and attachment as sin, it proposes their acceptance as inherent dimensions of nature, leading toward non-dual Witness Awareness.

Keywords: Vedanta 2.0, Existence, Consciousness, Witness Awareness, Non-duality, Nature, Zero-Point

1. Introduction

The entire history of human civilization — its knowledge, science, religion, and philosophy — has aimed at discovering truth, attaining freedom from suffering, and recognizing one’s true nature. However, despite unprecedented scientific and technological progress, modern humans suffer from profound mental unrest, existential duality, and inner emptiness.

Vedanta 2.0 offers an alternative philosophical framework. It is not based on any rigid belief system but on the self-sustaining, living dynamism of existence. The central thesis is that the fundamental inconsistency in human consciousness lies in forgetting the “Center” and becoming completely identified with the “Periphery.”

2. Darkness Beneath the Lamp: The Distance Created by Science, Religion, and Education

2.1 Science’s Excessive Outward Focus and the Question of Consciousness

From the perspective of this paper, mainstream materialistic science has achieved remarkable success in the objective study of the external world — from atoms to distant galaxies. However, it has largely marginalized the “Observer” or “Witness” consciousness, without which science itself cannot be validated.

2.2 Religion’s Imaginary Sky

On the other hand, many traditional religious institutions have dismissed the immediate, living reality as “Maya” (illusion) and directed human attention toward a distant, imaginary heaven, salvation, or God. Consequently, humans have become disconnected from the present moment.

2.3 The Web of Words Created by Modern Education

Formal education consumes twenty-five precious years of a person’s life and vast resources, yet it primarily imparts “information” rather than teaching true “knowing.” As a result, the educated person often becomes intellectually entangled and internally impoverished.

3. The Cosmic Journey from Earth to the Human System (The Human System)

Vedanta 2.0 does not contradict scientific findings (the universe being ~13.8 billion years old, Earth ~4.54 billion years old, life beginning ~3.8 billion years ago). Instead, it accepts them as part of a magnificent, unbroken evolutionary journey.

The “Cosmic Journey” is used here as a philosophical metaphor, not a literal claim. It highlights that the human body and consciousness are the result of billions of years of cosmic energy transformation — making the human system an extraordinarily rare and precious expression of existence.

Symbolic Analogy: If developing a simple mobile phone requires millions of brilliant minds, billions of dollars, and decades of effort, what is the value of the human system crafted by nature over billions of years?

4. The Trikaal Sutra (The Threefold Time Formula)

DimensionComponent of ExistenceAspect of TimeNature’s Quality (Philosophical Interpretation)
Source / OriginBirthPastStable foundation
Flow / MovementBreathPresentThe only living reality — constant coming and going
Possibility / PulseHeartbeatFutureThe ever-forward pulse of life

Core Argument: Human beings have no direct personal control over birth, breath, or heartbeat. These are governed entirely by the larger order of existence. Therefore, claiming “mine” over external possessions, positions, or ideologies is a fundamental delusion.

5. Desire, Anger, and Attachment: The Dual Dimensions of Nature

Traditional moral discourses often declared natural impulses (kaam, krodh, lobh, moh) as sin and advocated their suppression. Vedanta 2.0 revises this view. These energies are as natural as breath and heartbeat.

The problem lies not in their existence but in the narrow, distorted forms they take due to unconsciousness. Conscious acceptance — not uncontrolled indulgence — transforms these energies and brings naturalness to life.

6. Liberation from Duality and the Infinite Joy of the Zero-Point

Duality arose when fragmented human intellect divided the indivisible reality into “mine vs. yours,” “good vs. bad,” and “sin vs. virtue.”

True understanding is simple: just as one stops seeing individual letters after learning to read and directly perceives meaning, upon realizing the cosmic play, the illusion of the “doer” dissolves. Consciousness then rests at the Zero-Point, where only pure Witness Awareness remains — bringing far greater joy than the limited pleasures of the ego.

7. Limitations of the Paper

This is a conceptual and philosophical paper. The cosmic timeline and metaphors are used symbolically to illuminate the value of consciousness, not as empirical scientific claims. The paper offers an alternative explanatory framework rather than experimentally verifiable conclusions.

Conclusion

Vedanta 2.0 requires no external historical proof, scriptural testimony, or intermediary guru. The universe is a continuous, self-sustaining flow with no beginning or end. When humans stop the outward race and rest at their inner center — in the living presence of breath and heartbeat — the darkness beneath the lamp disappears. They directly experience that they themselves are the most conscious and living expression of this infinite existence.

This is true liberation — simple, direct, and free from duality.

Vedanta 2.0
Neither a religion, nor a path, nor a spiritual practice—only understanding.
To see is liberation.
To understand is the practice.
To live fully in the present is the sacred expression of existence.
Life itself is God.
